Year of The Dragon – History and Meaning
The dragon mythology appears in many cultures, including Chinese. 1940 (birth year of Bruce Lee is also known as The Year of The Dragon). Because of this, Bruce Lee was often referred to and known as The Little Dragon and has been a significant influence in Martial Arts History.
Notably, 2024 marks another Year of The Dragon.
A bit about me…
After many years of dedicated martial arts training and several years specifically focused on Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do (JKD), I am proud to announce that in 2024 I have achieved a full instructor certification in Jeet Kune Do under Jerry Poteet’s Jeet Kune Do Association.
Bruce Lee inspired my journey in martial arts and during my teenage years, I have also taken an interest in Zen Philosophy. Receiving a full instructor certification and carrying on Bruce Lee’s legacy as a 3rd Generation JKD coach holds great significance to me.
As a result, I have decided to bring the dragon and the Zen circle into our new logo, symbolising the integration of these two powerful influences.
This rebrand represents not only my personal growth and achievements but also my dedication and commitment to the principles and philosophy that guide our everyday training at Zen Combat Academy.
