Many years ago, Jerry Poteet joined Ed Parker and a few other students to meet a young Martial Artist from Seattle, Bruce Lee.

This day was the beginning of Jerry’s future which positively changed his life in every way imaginable. This incredible impact of young Bruce Lee and his student, Jerry Poteet lives on to this day.

The legacy is being preserved and continues to be taught around the world, by Sifu Fran Poteet-Joseph.

Jeet Kune Do

Bruce Lee, Founder of Jeet Kune Do is a style of no style, it’s a concept and philosophy.

”Jeet Kune Do” translating to ”The Way of the Intercepting Fist” is the art of intercepting a punch, with a punch. Most Martial Arts would teach to block, parry or move first, then hit. However, this method did not appeal to Bruce Lee as it took too long, so he founded his own method of ”intercepting”.

Bruce trained several Martial Arts but believed that the styles had become too rigid and not realistic and that martial arts should evolve, and real fighting is unpredictable and spontaneous. So he took what he thought was useful and applied it to his very own Jeet Kune Do.

The weekend

4 days of intensive Jeet Kune Do training, our students were fortunate to experience learning from the best, and they sure grasped at this opportunity with both hands.

Students practised various JKD Applications, learning about catching beats of time, developing the three speeds of JKD and using the secret power principle.
